I think that it is a rash but I don't know. It seems to have started on his but and we thought that is was a diper rash but none of the cream we bought helped. Now it has spread to his legs and stomach, chest, and back. It almost looks like zits or pimples all over, but they're red with a white pus tip like a zit. What is this?

It could be a yeast rash. If this is the case, you need to get an anti-fungal cream from the doctor. It it started in the diaper area, he may also need his mouth treated (that's the usual route the yeast has to the butt) for thrush--oral yeast. In this case, both you *and* he need to be treated together; yeast is very contagious, so if he has it, you probably do, too. A mother with thrush often has sore nipples, but not always. And the baby *may* have raised white dots in his mouth, but, again, not necessarily, even if he is infected.

By all means, take him to a doctor. It could just be a heat rash but it could also be many other things. As an infant, my son would get throat infections and each time he would break out in a pimple like rash all over his body. His doctor told me that because my son was too young to voice his discomfort, the rash was his body's way of letting me know he was sick....he never broke a fever along with the infections so the rash was really the only 'sign' I would get that something was wrong.

Sounds like baby pimples from being too hot. My daughter had the same thing. Make sure he is not getting to hot. Let him air out his little bottom and the rest of him by giving him a luke warm bath and letting him run around for a little while without clothes. That should help clear it up. Try Desitin Creamy if you still suspect it is diaper rash, but most likely its just him getting too hot. Let him play in a onesie during the day. If you are worried about him getting cold at night wrap him in a thin blanket with socks on that will help. Good luck!

You didn't say what age your baby is and that can make a difference in the diagnosis. A lot of newborns have little pimple-like bumps all over them but they outgrow this quicky. It could also be a yeast rash or a heat rash. It is best to go to the doctor as if it is a yeast rash, you will need a perscription cream to cure it.

Take him to a doctor but there's a lotion called Nilstat you can purchase from the pharmasist. I used it on my critter when he had super bad diaper rash. It might also be something in the diet. But that stuff works great. It also helps with yeast infections and itchy boobs from nursing.
