As others have posted, the assertion is totally wrong.

Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution gives Congress the power to lay and collect taxes, and Congress does that in the Internal Revenue Code. That's kind of the end of that story.

This poster is in error.

Title 26 of the US Code clearly states the requirement that all income in the US is taxable, subject to the provisions of the code. This is an old myth that keeps resurfacing, and the courts have little patience for people who try and refuse to pay taxes on this grounds. Heavy fines, penalties, and in some cases, prison terms are assessed against those who refuse to file a tax return on this grounds, as well as many others.

This is actually true… The forefathers never enacted a tax making all taxes illegal because it was not ratified.. But the federal government has a way around it like when you get your SS number you’re agreeing to pay. Also if you have EVER filed your agreeing to file again. My philosophy is why mess with the current regime in charge. lol don’t forget the revolution was started for like 5% tax on tea… I know I pay much more then that.

Yeah we have a few of those people here in Michigan serving time for tax evasion.

It may be true but it doesn't hold a candle to the enforcement options available to the Federal Government. They make the rules and are charged with the interpretation of the same. Three words come to mind if you try this tactic:

You will lose.

You and Tequila Gypsy can tell it to the IRS and the state income tax people when they levy on your wages and your pension and your home equity. It's sad that people keep hearing and believing these lies. Didn't your mother ever teach you that if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

Everyone but Tequila Gypsy who answered your question told you specifics on why your proposition is wrong. Up to you to do the right thing for yourself now that you know you were wrong.

Are you sure.

I know the country was founded on the belief that we would not have an income tax, only sales and export/import taxes, but soon found it didn't work out. We couldn't make enough to meet needs.

Where did you find this peice of infromation, and can you back it up?

You're lying: Closing the Carbon Loophole and Cracking Down on Polluters We must take immediate action to reduce the carbon pollution that threatens our climate and sustains our dependence on fossil fuels. We have had limits in place on pollutants like sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and other harmful emissions for some time. After decades of inaction, we will finally close the carbon pollution loophole by limiting the amount of carbon polluters are allowed to pump into the atmosphere. Closing the Carbon Loophole. By stemming carbon pollution through a market-based cap, we can address in a systematic way all the energy challenges that we face: curbing our dependence on foreign oil, reducing our use of fossil fuels, and promoting new industries right here in America.
