We're all bikers, aren't we? I ride metric but a bike's a bike.

My bike looks a little Harleyish from a distance because it has a round headlight. It's funny watching Harley guys trying to decide whether I deserve to be acknowledged as they stare at my bike trying to figure out what it is.

I'm sad that people are dissing Harleys in their answers because that's just widening the rift. We are _all_ bikers and discriminating on style ruins the brotherhood.

I ride a Harley and NEVER acknowledge any one on a Jap bike... especially the morons on crotchrockets. Notice the retarded responses you get from the Non-Harley riders - jealous wannabes!

I ride an old BMW, and I wave when I am on a country road and meet a bike head-on, and usually get a return salute.
However, I don't wave when overtaking (it might seem like a challenge or a diss), and I don't wave on divided highways (I usually can't see the other guy until they're nearly past me anyway), and I don't wave in the city (just too danged many riders and I need to concentrate on traffic, not socializing).
I have found no difference between Harley riders and metric riders, except that Harley riders in a clot (and they frequently ride in large groups) tend to be less likely to return a salute. I guess they don't want to seem less "one of the pack".
But that's just a supposition.
The kind of bike has a lot less to do with this than the circumstances, I think.

I'm a Harley guy and I wave to all the bikers except those on crotch rockets. They are usually kids that only want to see how quickly they can kill themselves with to powerful a bike for their experience. I don't mind riding with the metric riders either, just as long as they know how to ride in a group. Peace...

Harley guys are too busy keeping the throttle maxed out to get up a hill. Also their wrists are sore from all the vibration. Ride a harly and then a goldwing and tell me which youd rather go cross country on.

BTW no american bike can catch a 'busa. Something about your freaking stone age pushrods bending at 10,000rpm

I have to agree with you, we are all brothers in the wind and it doesn't mean sh*t what you ride. You can see from some of the responses you got how many posers there are set trippin out there. I wave to anyone that waves to me and to plenty of riders who don't, I ride with anyone that I consider a friend regardless of what they ride (and yes, I even ride with crotch rockets). I wish everyone was on the same page as you and I, a bike is a bike...period!

Majority have bought a 'lifestyle' and pretend to be badass bikes.
Lots of harley riders are gay, like to dress up in leather (is there anything that says 'gay' more than leather chaps?)
They are too busy being 'cool' to even notice whats going on around them (just waiting to be another statistic)

I've always held the opinion the it doesn't matter what you ride... It's that you do ride that counts. I wave at all motorcyclists when I can.

I've always felt that most Harley riders don't return the wave because they're afraid of letting go of their handlebars!
;-)

I don't know, but I wish they would. I guess it's that bad boy image. I wave at everyone. If they don't wave back *shrugs* one more person to blame for the bad stereotypes.

I ride a sportbike, and if you're on two wheels you're good with me.
