You could try a press release on Yahoo! news. I think it costs about $80 and after that you may be picked up by Google and MSN...these 3 search engines make up 96% of the market. Good luck. I am trying the same tactic with my soon-to-be online business.

There are a number of free resources available to advertise your website and increase traffic. You can advertise on relevant free classifieds ( www.craigslist.org) , directories (dmoz) and relevant forums. Major search engines like Yahoo, Google , MSN search are a major source of visitors for most websites and you can submit your website to these search engines for free. You can also run contests offering prizes to regular visitors. I have found the following website useful

Google Ad-Words. Being a business owner myself, I use Google to find suppliers all of the time. I also use it to promote my business. You choose your daily spending limits and per click limits. So you can advertise for as low as $1.00 a day.
