I refer to assassination as something happening outside of a war zone. Basically, what if America located OBL outside a warzone and had him assassinated? What if he was killed in a very brutal manner and we refused to condemn it? If he were begging for his life on video and was then executed?

Please keep the discussion civil and presume nothing about my political beliefs.

I'm not saying there should or shouldn't be, what happens to that man truly does not concern me.

Please note I did not mention torture, just brutal killing.

To the guy saying it would have to be proven it was the US:

Do you really think angry mobs are that rational? Most Arab media is willing to blame anything that goes wrong over there on foreigners much as our media is willing to do so.

I was going to answer "no" until you came up with "If he were begging for his life on video and was then executed?". Even if that did happen but was not caught on tape (do you still say tape or is it DVD-RW now?), I don't think there would be an outrage. On the other hand, if there was a video, I'm pretty sure the outrage would start with Americans, because image is very powerful.

However, I sincerely doubt OBL would ever beg for his life.

Just as you did, I ask you to presume nothing about my political beliefs.

the U. S. dedicated an extra-judicial killing which has/will make Osama Bin encumbered a good martyr for his reason. As a non American searching in on what's happening in the U. S. borders, the conceited social gathering will also little doubt strengthen al-Qaeda as those youthful men and females are keen to die for the reason even earlier his lack of life in this 'cowboy Hollywood action picture, people shop the day" manor. for this reason they hate people a lot and prefer it or not it replaced into partial the clarification behind 9/11 in the first position. As for some thing of the international, the movements the country take both good or undesirable influence some thing of the international. Terrorism is a global difficulty and that i favor the states ought to comprehend that and tread extra intently rather of performing like the faculty bully. Osama Bin encumbered replaced into not the top all, be all of terrorism that has been credited 6,500 people and in no way purely people that slip mainstream media and on line blog commentors. i believe that for decades he has purely been a sort. This terrorism snake has many heads and that i dread as to what the fallout will be which will purely compound the extremists beliefs and acts. Like I wrote terrorism is a global difficulty and it will be dealt with globally. notwithstanding, what I suggested would not analyze with Tears of the international. that ought to get maximum acceptable answer. Bravo!

Although it would be a terrific thing to do (and we're working on it with our military), I'm not sure that it could be done any more brutally than what Zarqawi got a few weeks ago. A proper assassin would not likely want to stick around to video the "hit." Also, he is an international criminal, and, in effect, an outlaw, so I don't even see where it would be "off limits." In answer to the base question, no doubt there would be an outcry by everyone who is perpetually hacked off at the U.S., but it would be worth it. When we caught Saddam, some clown lamented that it was too bad for him to be forced to hide in a hole like that. Poor fellow.

Of course there would be outrage. There are hundreds of thousands of people that have been taught their entire lives that America is the great Satan. They believe that OBL is the sole person to hold the banner against the omnipresent evil which is the US.
Some caveats:
1. It would have to be confirmed it was America behind the bullet.
2. Any death is brutal, I assume you are talking about torture before death and that would be condemned by both friend and enemy alike.
3. OBL would never beg for his life on film, he would die first.

Didn't you hear? The ignorant Bush Administration had CIA last week close it's department in charge of finding Osama Bin Laden. So this is a mute point at best. He may never be caught now. America was lied to again!! Bin Laden was NEVER a priority.

If he begged for his life, there would be little to no outcry. If he did that, then the radicals woudl know that he was not a martyr for their cause. If he went down fighting, there still would be no organized outrage. But the fundamentalists would use his so called "martyrdom" as a rallying cry, I have no doubt.

Absolutely not. That man is brutal and has no respect for human life, other than his own. He wouldn't piss on one of his own followers if they were on fire. He has condoned the disgusting killings of more than a handful of men on camera for the whole world to see. He deserves the same, if not worse. I'd pay to see him beheaded in person.

America could not videotape anyone begging for their life and then being murdered. I know our country gets a bad reputation these days, but we aren't THAT bad.

Do we want the guy dead? Yes, and with good reason. However we would not torture someone, film it, and then execute them brutely. That's just ridiculous.
