Government and its corruption. We haven't been gouged enough at the pumps that we have to pay $300 a month for electricity too? I suppose I can fill a grocery cart with mac and cheese and tell my family that they're now vegetarians. Thanks again Dubya.

I'm not involved in any religious institution so I say government.
Government affects my life because laws and the way they're interpreted by those with power to handle/use/misuse them affect my every day life. For example, when Bush passed this No Child Left Behind Act which overtests children all over the US it directly impacted me because I am a fifth grade teacher, it also directly impacted my child. My child suffered through an entire month of testing and I had to administer the test to my nervous fifth graders. This affected us greatly, especially during that entire month of March.
When Congress was debating immigration "reform" it affected me because I am an immigrant. It affected immigrants everywhere! Although I am a naturalized immigrant, I know how all immigrants suffer when they first arrive in the US and I see its effects on immigrant fifth graders when they come to my classroom. I also had several of my children take days off school in order to march, and ask for immigrant rights along with their parents. At home, I taught my children about my own immigrant experience and tried to have them understand that no one comes to "take away" from our country, in fact immigrants add to it.
So, in fact, it is not religion that affects my life more due to the fact that I don't practice a religion. Government impacts my life much more just because I am a driver (those prices hurt), a teacher, a tax payer, a small business owner, an immigrant, I am a woman (who believes in a woman's right to choose), and a mother

Religion. I make more of an impact on people's lives through religion than I do in politics. Plus, having God as a foundation of everything that I do is what keeps me going. He gives me the strength I need to make it through the day.

Government...I am not religious, I am spiritual---this is personal choice...government is a majority (supposedly)
choice & I have to deal with whatever they dish out...which these days offers little choices except doing my best to simply survive their horrid lack of ability in human management.
