Hopefully guys will see past all the makeup, black nails, piercings, black clothing and weird hair and see the REAL girl inside. She basically wants all the same things in life as the non-goth-girls.... love and unconditional acceptance for who she is.
Back in the 60's and 70's, young people rebelled and refused to conform. They grew their hair long..... and did other things (I won't go into) to make a stand. They did just about anything just to be different from the previous generation. It caused quite a stir back then. But being different was, and still is, going to happen in every generation.
I think it's great for people express themselves differently, however, my first thought is..... that some of these girls who change their looks drastically are just crying out for attention. Good or bad attention.... it doesn't matter. They are "hiding" behind their makeup and garb. They're obviously not getting enough attention in the usual, mainstream, socially acceptable ways. That part of it is sad.
But as I mentioned previously...... a guy should get to know a girl's personality first, before casting judgement or dismissing a girl because of the way she looks. Let's face it..... prejudice lurks not only in minority races, but also in minority fashion groups.
