Hawaii is definitely the best state to live in. The people are culturally and ethnically diverse. They are very warm and welcoming. When you live in the state, the communities are very tight-knit and the camaraderies are among the best. The political atmosphere is liberal, although Hawaiian society can be best described as a hybrid of proud, rich tradition as well as progressive. It is relatively safe and today, it is not unheard of to still leave doors unopened in most neighborhoods. And because of its pluralism, it is a great place to raise children, so they can get accustomed to the idea of diversity, a very important value I think. The climates are typical of tropical regions and the gastronomy in the state is definitely the most unique of any American state.

Southern California, the new malls at Ontario, like Victoria Gardens, or the Mills, close to L.A., San Bernardino mountains, and yes the beaches.

Michigan. If you dont like the weather, wait an hour. Honestly, the big lakes (and hundreds of small ones), the warm summers, the cold winters, the farms and big citys.... everything you need. Except a Republican governor.

Texas. They have the ocean, tons of lakes (more than Minnesota), rivers, desert, mountains, pretty much anything you could want. They have great food and great music (even if you're not a fan of barbecue or country music - of which I'm not). I wish I lived there!
