I have some health conditions that would make pregnancy very dangerous for me. But, I don't want to have a hysterectomy at 26 years old. I have a latex sensitivity and my husband hates the lamb skin condoms. Any other ideas? IUD? Anything else?

If you never want children get your tubes tied.
An IUD or the pill or Depo shots are all effective but all have some side affects.
Talk with your doctor to see what they recommend for you as you have other health concerns.
I do not think any doctor would do a hysterectomy on you at your age and that is not the right answer as it has big side affects.
They may tie your tubes if being pregnanat could harm your health. Other than that they like to wait until you are 30 or have two children.

I would go to a local women's clinic... they can offer a host of services, as well descriptions of pro/cons of each method. I use a birth-control pill. Several of my friends are on Depo-provera. There are also spermicidal products, diaphragms, etc. Seeing as your reason for not wanting to be pregnant is related to medical problems, I would talk to your doctor to see if he/she recommends any form of contraceptive that won't interfere with said medical problem and would still give you the highest rate of protection.

I use the depo-prevera shot.. its only once every three months.. and it is more effective than any kind of pill or condom. That is what I would recommend :-)

Good luck!

I use the NuvaRing. Sounds a little strange at first...but it is truly a great invention! I LOVE IT!

people on a message board cannot give you suggestions, that is something that your husband and you both need to discuss with a doctor
