I stared to bleed a day ago with kind of a light period. No cramping or any pain. I went to dr. yesterday and he checked the size of my uterus, it hasn't grown since the last time I was there which was 5 days ago and he can't hear baby heartbeat yet. He said he thinks we should by now. I am about 8 weeks according to last period. If I am bleeding, could I be having a miscarriage? I don't feel like it. Only sign for me is bleeding and I still feel pregnant. I'm confused and scared. It's emotionally stressing me out. I go back to dr. on Monday and dr. will check me again and see if any changes. I'm not having heavy bleeding like a miscarriage. No blood clots. Help me.

Bleeding doesn't *always* mean a sign of miscarriage. With my first child, I had two "regular" periods during the first months of pregnancy!

here, from webmd: Bleeding during pregnancy isn't normal, but it's not unusual either. Nor does it mean that a miscarriage is imminent. Some women may continue to have scant periods during this trimester. In fact, in the general population, some women don't realize they're pregnant until about three months into the pregnancy because of this. Although menstrual cycle changes usually won't be noticed until about weeks 4 and 5, you can spot as early as seven days after conception. This is known as implantation bleeding and is a normal vaginal spotting caused by the formation of new blood vessels, but it's rarely experienced.

It is really a hard questions. There is no way of knowing for sure till the Dr. hears the heartbeat. But to make you feel better, when I was 8 weeks preg. I was walking in Wal Mart and felt this gush so I ran to the bathroom and I was bleeding and passed 3 clots the size of Walnuts, this was on a Saturday night and I could not see the Dr. till Monday, but this blood was was very dark in color and there was no pain involved and the bleeding stopped. Dr. told me all was ok and I had just passed some old uterine lining. Some hopefully that is all the is going on with you. MOST of the time if there is no pain, or bright red blood you are fine, but do not hold me to that, cause you just never know. I will pray for you, good luck.

I know this is hard for you but there are some women who bleed the whole time they are pregnant. I have never heard about the uterus changing in 5 days. Sometimes you don't hear the heartbeat at 8 weeks......My doctor did not check mine til around 12 weeks. Because at 8 weeks most of us are just finding out that we are pregnant. For some reason the 1st trimester and the last trimester are the most difficult ones. So just hold on to Monday, the doctor might have better results for you and you do know that you can get a second opinion. God Bless!!

There are many causes for bleeding during pregnancy. Dates can be wrong and your doctor will check again later. Sometimes the heartbeat is not detectable in early pregnancy especially when using a Doppler. Report the bleeding to your doctor now. If you have a miscarriage, remember 30% of all pregnancies end up in miscarriage. It isn't your fault. Your heath is very important. If miscarriage is eminent (heavy vaginal bleeding, cramping) then go to the emergency room where they are equipped to help you. My thoughts are with you. Either way, things will work out.

1st off do not panic yourself i know easier said than done... I myself had slight blood loss early in pregnancy and 9 months later i had a lovelly baby girl but before this i did bleed and i did miscarry i to this day 4 years on believe the following:

1 i made it worse by getting really stressed (not good for baby)
2 the baby was not meant to be? (not easy at the time to believe)
and 3 your body was not ready for the baby

should the worse happen tell yourself that the baby or indeed your body was not ready and it will happen when the time is right

Good luck

((hugs)) Hang in there, try to take it easy physically and emotionally, and just wait for your dr visit. I have not had a miscarriage but it concerns me that he hasn't found the heartbeat. Hopefully the bleeding with stop and he will hear the baby at your appt.

Ok... I work in an OB/GYN and we don't have our patients come for their first prenatal appointment until 9-12 wks. This way our chances of hearing the hearbeat increase. So, because he was unable to hear the heart now is not overly alarming. If your last menstrual period (LMP) is correct though, there is no reason he shouldn't be able to do an ultrasound to determine viability/location/dates. Call your doctor and discuss this option with him. Explain to him that it would put your mind at ease. Most insurance companies will cover 2 ultrasounds during pregnancy. Especially if medically necessary. Good luck!!

My sister had bleeding at the beginning of her pregnancy and they did an ultrasound and found the fetus - the baby's now a year old. Just keep positive and don't stress. I also heard that with miscarriages there is cramping.
