I think it was diabetes related. I'm surprised there isn't more information about it on the net. I'm sure more news will be available over the next few days.
However he died, I'd like to say R.I.P. Syd, you shone like the sun.
I've never been hit this hard by someones death (apart from family deaths).

believe it was complications due to his diabetes.
