I repair all brand computers and although it is true Dell technical help is outsourced so is most every other warrenty service in the IT field. Dell computer hardware however is a very stable platform. For my own choices while I repair others I own and use five Dell and two HPs also one Ibm. I have never had a componet failure on my dells yet. Most problems people have with there pcs is software related and often caused by running the internet and unprotected or by choosing every free download they can find. Unfortunately many otherwise very intelligent people enjoy posting free downloads or interesting html for viewing with the intent of crashing your system for fun. No computer manufacture can protect you from this.
