I was on Ortho Tri-cyclin and Tri-Levin; both are pills with three levels of hormones that correspond to different points in your cycle with a "sugar pill" week to help you remind when to start your new pack.

Both of them work to keep your skin clear if that is a concern. Since I had good skin to begin with I have gorgeous skin on this pill. People would complement me on it.

Now I am on Depo Provera (The shot). I LOVE it. No monthly cycle. No daily pill to remember. All convenience. Plus an unexpected bonus. Since I wasn't having the monthly hormone fluctuations it lowered my number of migraines and lessened depression.

Both are good options. Remember the pill does NOT protect you against STDs. You should be in a monogamous relationship. Talk to your doctor about the risks, especially if you smoke.

Good luck.

What is the reason you wish to use the pill?
How long do you anticipate you will remain on it?
Do you have any prior experience with hormonal forms of birth control?
Go with an open mind and lots of questions. Your Dr will be able to assist you as to which pill will likely be the best match for your body and situation. He/she will also likely make sure you are aware of other options at the same time.
If you have some specific questions feel free to ask those any time.
