Make a solution of bleach and water - maybe half and half so the smell isn't too strong - and (using gloves) sponge down the wall. It will kill the mold for now and, I've found, will keep it from returning for quite a while.

Getting a dehumidifier would be good too to help prevent it returning but you really need to do something 'cos breathing in mold spores just isn't good for your health.

Wow , I would move for sure , in the meantime , a dehumidifier would cure lots of the moisture problem . But the fact will remain the walls will sweat , because they are in contact with soil , there are some paints that seal the walls , but this may leave you living in a very smelly place for some time . Contact your land lord , and ask if they are willing to fix up the place a bit . Mold spores can make you feel sick , and it is not a healthy environment.

Purchase a dehumidifier. It's a device with a fan and a refrigerated coil. The fan sucks in air and blows it over the cold coils. The cooled air releases its moisture, which condenses on the coils and drips down into a collection container. Many units contain an electrostatic filter to also remove particulate matter from the air.

When you purchase it, make sure you get a unit large enough to handle the space you live in. Measure the square footage of your living space, and use that as a guide to the model unit to buy.

Mold needs darkness and humidity to grow. To blog mold grouth you can get a dehumidifier and lots of bright lighs for your apt, leave a Artificial Sun Lamp on when you are not home and ventilate.

But the light and the humidifier is specially important, this will also cut down on breathing problem that mold will cause.

The only advice I can offer is if you have sheet rock, there's a company that makes paint that will protect you're walls. It's expensive, but its worth it.
The only other thing I can think of is something that will dry out the room continously, such a dehumidifyer.

Might have to have some outdoor french drains put in and have the walls sealed with water proofing. A dehumidifier will help in any case

Paint with Kilz brand paint. It's supposed to kill the existing mold and prevent new mold from forming. So far it's worked in my basement.

sounds like a creepy and unsanitary condition to live in.get the walls cleaned quickly or it may make you sick,if exposed to mold for too long.if it keeps coming back and becomes a mundane task to clean, then i'd consider moving someplace else for health reasons.
