My ex does not give me any shild support. I have an order in since 1999. I have recieved about 5 checks since then. If they catch him he'll quit his job. I live in CA and he lives in AZ. The D.A. here in CA tells me it's harder to get him due to that he lives in another state. I have 3 kids. Anybody know of what next step I can take, or is this a closed case. I heard from one of his cousins that he's getting paid cash to avoid child support.

According to United States Code, Sec. 1738B., the Full faith and credit for child support orders act, the state of Arizona is obligated to assist in enforcing the California court order child support decree. Below is a link to the US code ...

If the DA or courts in California seem unwilling to assist you then I would suggest contacting the state of Arizona's DCSE (Department of Child Support Enforcement) and request their assistance. If you know the current whereabouts of the child's father then this would be helpful to the Arizona DCSE in that they possibly at the very least could suspend his driver's license and/or even serve him with a subpoena to appear. I don't know about CA laws, but in certain states, if this hasn't become for all, they can put a "body attachment" on him once his CS arrears reach a certain amount. A case in another state followed a guy here (I live in AR)... he was in arrears of something in the neighborhood of $10,000 and they got him (attachment was from MD or MN) and extradited him back when his background check was flagged. You might talk to the DA about that or if you have something like we have (there's an Office of Child Support Enforcement) and you might even see about contacting the DA about charging him with contempt, since you have a court order he is violating. There are also certain organizations that will help you, for a fee, to catch him (private). Also, you can put a seizure order against ANY tax refunds he gets. His tax id (social security number) shows up on a tax form, his money gets taken and sent to you.

My ex quit job after job to avoid paying, ya see, he needs to pay his skanky girlfriend's child support first cuz she's too lazy to work and he doesn't want her in jail. So he went and found himself a job for a farmer where his rent is free, he gets a vehicle, and gets paid cash. But, here's the deal; if the guy is working or cash and not paying taxes, the IRS has a # you can call to report tax fraud. It's worth a try. But I have just given up on ever seeing a penny from this loser, and that's ok, the kids and I will be fine, and WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. I don't have to do anything to make that happen, it just always does. Good luck and God Bless.

Actually, I have a friend who pays support and if his child's mom opens a case in her county, he has to travel there to be at the court date. I would file another claim against him to make him show up. Either try to ask for more money or do some sort of adjustment to it. I believe you have to go back to court for that. Don't give up sweetie.

Also, there are private collection agencies that work for people who are trying to collect child support. Here is a link for some info:

I know they are probably your best bet right now. Don't worry, many people go through this, so there are ways to help you collect. He owes this to your kids. Don't give up.

Also, I know he can do jail time if he owes over a certain amount. ($10K I think bu I could be wrong) so I would alert the local authorities and try to open up a warrant in his name in the town he lives in so that if he gets pulled over, etc it will show up.

since your ex lives out of state you may want to look online for a child support enforcer that can help you. here is one that i found. http://www.collectchildsupport.com/ there are many more that might suite you. i know where you are coming from. i have one child that i recieve child support for and her father has nothing to do with her and she is 11 years old. the bad part is is that he only lives about 20 miles from me. the fact of the matter is is that your man helped you make those kids he can help you raise them...period. he does't have to be there in the flesh to do it but his money can help provide for their shoes, clothes and a roof over thier heads. it is a shame that men think that they can just lay down with us and get us pregnant and then leave and leave us with the burdan of raising the children ourselves. there is a law out there that they have to pay and when they do find him they can take his drivers license away now and then they can put a judgement on him and the laws are just getting stricter. one person in the answers said why mess up his life and leave him alone. i guess they were not thinking of the children that he left alone and how you have to struggle to make ends meet and maybe if he was helping as all other fathers should be ...alot of single mothers would not be on welfare today and wondering where their next meal is coming from. i will pray for you and your kids.....

I have this problem too, which really sucks. Unfortunatly the Law can only do what they can considering he is always on the move and working and getting paid under the table, Just pray that he will be found and the court could be a bench warrant on him and push and push that they try to find him, and as well suggest to the D.A. To see if this man has a recent drivers license and fishing license and what have you. I live in Tn. and so doesn't my ex. matter in fact he lives only 8 mins. (yes) thats it . Away form me, yet i seem to be the one always trying to get info for the courts, which is bull, you might have to be your own detective or try to find someone who can help you track him down.

You'll probably never get the money. Open up a case with child support enforcement if you haven't. If you have then in your case, supportkids.com is a good option. They take 30% of the money, but if you're not getting any now with an open case with child support enforcement, something's better than nothing.

You need to file the paperwork to have him found in contempt of court for failure to pay child support. You need to keep it documented. Do the contempt of court thing first.

It's hard for you when they get paid in cash, no paper trail. It's a number that is advertise on TV/Radio.....I don't remember the name but I would check on the Internet under Child Support. They boast that they can help you if you have a court order and your ex is way behind. So try that. Now remember this he is only hurting himself, when it comes time to retire he will not be getting as much as he would if he would report his income. So if he doesn't get it now, he will get it in the end.

Well you need to go the court about it. Let them know about the situation. Well i guess the best thing is to work hard for you to be able to support your kid and he(your ex) will surely help and support your child, that's his child so he cant go nowhere. If he has a good job and can support your child. Talk about it with him in a peaceful way. Or just go on with your life... you've got a wonderful child so let him/her be your inspiration to strive hard for both of your bright future.

Call the dept of revenue, they handle all child support cases that don't pay, They will find him and garnish his wages, and they do all this in court, so its court ordered by a judge, if he doesn't pay again then he will go to jail, then he will get another chance to pay when he gets out, He can get 5 years in the pen for the third offense
