They "can", but it's NOT recommended. The main danger is increasing bodily heat - and thereby affecting or possibly harming the baby. Not to say that a warm bath isn't okay, but the temperature in a hot tub can be above 140 degrees F - which is too hot. Tanning can cause maternal overheating as well and should be avoided. I guess if there were any chance at all that it would be bad, I would just avoid it all together. Good luck.

I am 17 weeks pregnant and my doctor said not do go in hot tubs or tanning beds because it would be bad for the baby if my body temperature rose too high. My doctor stressed staying out of the sun and I can't even take a hot bath.

OK well I used to work in a tanning salon and can say there is no way tanning will "cook" your baby you should not expose yourself to extreme heat so hot tubs are pretty much out however tanning beds are vented with fans so they really do not get that hot however if you feel your temperature rising get out as for the uv rays they do not penetrate deeply enough to have any ill effects on your baby the concern is your body temperature keep that in mind and youll be fine

I own a tanning bed. When I was pregnant, the doctor said it was fine after the first trimester. Try to do it less, though. I'm not sure about the hot tub.

actual no longer. As an advid tanner I regarded into it. the most probability is early on before you understand or look pregnant. the nice and comfortable temperature is amazingly very risky to the toddler. you're not from now on meant to overheat in any respect in the course of the first trimester exceptionally. It retards the fetus' progression. After that, the nice and comfortable temperature remains risky, in spite of the indisputable fact that the tanning quite makes any stretch marks you receives waaaay worse, no longer to tutor the gruesome tan lines. Wait till after youve had yoru toddler. once you're decrease back to a better universal structure it may help with hiding stretch marks and feeling human back :) it sucks giving it up, i went by potential of an similar ingredient.

You could, but for very short periods of time (like 10 minutes in the tub, and less in the bed!) After your FIRTS TRIMESTER. The fetus could be "cooked."

hot tub - NO!!! Don't go in one while pregnant

tanning bed is okay in the beginning, it gets risky later on because of size and the risk of falling as you get in and out

No you shouldn't. Both raise your body temperature which can cause deformities in the baby. I wouldn't risk it.
