I have a 89 mercury cougar LS. The check engine light is on and I want to know if it is possible to jumper two of the terminals on the ecc plug to read the code. On GM's you can do this. Does anybody know how to do this on a Mercury? What terminals do you jumper?

You can't do it on this vehicle. This was Ford's early stage electronic fuel injection system/computer system. The best way is to go to the dealership. They sent guys to school on it and gave them....and only them....the code book/troubleshooting manual. Sorry...good luck.
