I love Christopher Paolini's books, and I saw in the news paper about 5 years ago they were going to make it into a movie... But no news about it

Yip, there is going to be Eragon movie scheduled to be released in December 2005.

Yes, there is going to be a movie. As far as I know, it's coming out in November or December of this year...but I'm not sure.
