If you are looking for Surround Sound, you need to get a 5.1 channel or better soundcard.
Otherwise - no special considerations. Drivers are provided with all retail soundcard.

The answer to this question is What do you want to do with it?
If you want a sound card for everyday use then any will do.
But if you want to watch DVD's VCD's or play high end games then I would recomend a Audigy series soundcard or a X-FI series from creative as these are top of the range cards.
