Why do people hate Green Day's "American Idiot" cd??

People are always telling me that they hate that cd but they like their old stuff.... I love it all, but I don't understand why people hate. So if someone could fill me in then that would be great. Thanks

People who hate it feel that Green day "Sold Out" by going pop and commercial.....

Those people liked Green Day when the band was underground, and resent them for "making it big" and going Mainstream.

The same thing happened to Metallica....a band that was loved and adored by the band's early supporting fans, until they reached commercial success, then those early fans turned on the band.

What happens is that once an underground band, like Green Day, reaches commercial success, they gain new fans who are all-of-a-sudden "into" the band.....and the original fans of the band (who say they've been supporting the band since the begining) resent the new fans.

Green Day's "American Idiot" cd broke the band BIG and introduced the band to a whole new fan base. For many people, that's the first Green Day cd they ever bought.

Some of the original fan base are glad that Green Day has achieved great success, but others are not.....and those are the ones who say they "hate" the American Idiot cd and preffer the older stuff.

I like some of the new stuff and some of the old stuff... but American Idiot seems to have alot of politic commentary in the lyrics, and that is always a musically turn off for me. Celebrities shouldn't produce propaganda for any political view

i imagine that by labelling eco-friendly Day's American fool as treasonous is taking the person-pleasant way out. i in my opinion believe the lyrics to this song are a mirrored image of the songwriters acceptance of what many individuals, and extra oftentimes North individuals, have become. finished idiots! it type of feels "we" (North individuals, considering i'm from Canada) have become a custom that worships and relies upon on the media and the terror it pumps for the period of society on a daily basis. it type of feels that this song is in truth anti-treasonous because it factors out the places the position u . s . a . of america lacks authentic "American-ness". for example "All by the alien u . s . a ." ought to confer with the unlawful extraterrestrial beings invading u . s . a . of america. ultimately the lyrics of route reflect the yank man or woman/ fool that the songwriter has grown to despise. one which has forgotten or lost the ability to face up for themselves, no longer around the international yet nationally. one which sees the crumbling of authentic American values and chooses to do no longer something about it yet mindlessly keep on with a pacesetter who's in no position to steer or help in convalescing a rustic that has lost its way.

The main reason I see is because they're claimed to be "Punk Rock" by many people. They are in a genre called "Pop-Punk". They are seen as posers to those who consider themselves real punk rockers. People who think they're punk aren't looking at what really make something punk. It's more about lifestyle and their message then their music itself.
To sum it up, people hate the fact that a pop-punk group is having overwhelming success as regular punk.

I don't like that album of theirs.. it's just not that good in my ears. I love Dookie and some of their early stuff.

because they dont have good taste and they think greenday sucks!They don't they rock and there better than any other band.Or people say there goth,well hello there not goth god just because they wear eyeliner doesn't mean there goth,and you know what they look betterthat way.these people dont know music and need to stop hating greenday,cause you know what its there opinion and there not gonna change mine.These people are haters and have bad taste in music.well at least most of them!

Im not particualy i fan but i dont hate them.

from my reasorces people think that there posers and they get sick of there songs. Some people just dont like the GENRE of music they play....

cuz they are loseres and they are like green day is waay to main stream now well you no what that is just stupid if they are mainstream bands it obviously means they are good! Ilove green day so people shoud just shut it!
