There have been articles in newspapers and such complaining about the rudeness of immigration officials in the USA upon arrival there. Please let me know if the situation has gotten better....or if it is still best to avoid the USA for a holiday we are planning this November for my wife and I. Thanks for your help.

I just had family come from Lebanon in March. If the US Immigration officials were going to be rude, they would be with them. But my relatives said that it was absolutely fine.
Maybe it is the fact that the US Officials have a different demeanor than most officials of other countries. I travel a lot. People elsewhere will joke with you. Here, it is out of the question for the Immigration Official to utter anything informal. Nor do they try to "lighten up" the atmosphere, if they want to search you. But there is no rudeness. It's just that it is very formal.
