No. Not normally. It is attached lower in the uterus I take it and now is called placenta previa, which means placenta before. It will more then likely still be there when you go to give birth, which will probably mean a c-section for you. Your doctor will talk to you more about it as your pregnancy progresses.

Yes there is a good chance. I too had placenta previa. The placenta itself doesn't move, the uterus as it grows pulls it upwards. At 20 weeks you have a 90% chance that it will resolve before giving birth. Take it easy though, as this is a dangerous situation and is should be taken seriously. If you have any bleeding at all call your doctor!!
At 28 weeks my placenta was still in the same place and I was very upset. But by 36 weeks it was out of the way, and I had a normal, vaginal birth. Good luck!

Sometimes the placenta attaches in the uterus and covers the cervix partially, marginally or completely. Depending on the severity a c-section might be required. 1 in 200 pregnancies are affected. Placenta previa is more common in older mothers, women with multiple pregnancies, and women with the history of uterine surgery. If you experience this which I believe is unlikely, they may put you on bed rest. Report any vaginal bleeding and or cramping. Take good care of yourself, keep all of your appointments. I think you will be fine. Congratulations and try to relax. Embrace the experience with calm resolve. Dismiss all the "what ifs".Prepare for the future. Your life will never be the same. My thoughts are with you.

yes ma'am...as the baby grows your tummy grows causing the placenta to slowly move up the wall inside the uterus. it most often moves by about the 6 month of pregnancy. it may take a little longer but may not always move...If it does not move it doesn't cause any harm to you or to the little one inside although you would have to have a c section because the doctor can not deliver the placenta before the baby...don't be scared just relax. Being pregnant is a very important thing as far as health goes. If you stress, the baby stresses as well so relax mama everything will be alright...talk to you obgyn if your still worried;)

The placenta does not move when you are pregnant. It stays in one spot. When you deliver the baby then it will move and you will deliver that too. If it becomes disconnected while pregnant it will be a major problem and the baby will be lost.
