There's nothing wrong with harmless chatting. It will only be a problem if you 2 ever decide to meet.

Too many people have the wrong ideas of Chats. Chat channels are not pick-up joints. They are not meat markets. They are places where you can talk to other people via the internet. Just because you are talking to people on the internet does NOT mean you are cheating.
However, if you are using the chat channels to pick up a date, then you are walking the thin line.
If you're just talking casually, no big deal.

If you're not telling your other half, then maybe you know that the "other" won't like the idea of you talking to the opposite sex on line. If you feel guilty, then yes it could be a problem, but if it's just harmless, than no, I think it's fine. If it is fine, then, why not tell the "other?"

Well...if your other half is very conservative and not telling him/her can cause a rift between you two. I suggest you better be honest coz sumtimes when chatting in rooms...ppl do tend to get involved emotionally(unknowingly) and land up in deep trouble. You may even wanna see and meet the person from the chat room...which could lead to many more problems. So...my advice ...think twice althought there is no harm in just chatting.Good Luck!!

the simple fact that you are asking the question means that in your own mind you could be crossing the line a little but not to worry i dont see any harm in chatting as long as you have a few online friends that you talk to a couple times a week not just one obsessive one 3 hours a day try to remember these three rules#1no meeting #2 no masterbating #3no minors

Depends on what you're talking about... If you're in... say... a music chat room and talking about your favorite bands, then no, that's not wrong. But if you're in a singles chat room and talking about whatever, acting like you're single... then, yes it's wrong.

I think chat is fine but not to tell your other half is wrong.
End of the day if they find out its gonna cause conflict in your relationship.
Be honest, they will love and respect you more for it.
