having lived aboard wooden sailboats in the Caribbean for 30 years, and become a pretty good boat carpenter as a result, I'd go to SOundings Magazine's classified ads, or even better, Wooden Boat mags adds.....

Why wood? For that money there are many that you could find that are plastic. I lived aboard my Lancer 29 for 9 months I was totally comfortable. I think you would be much better off if you open your mind to other boats, see that being a purest can cost alot more than money. You time has to very valuable. Think about a nice 30 footer in the likes of a Catalina..

Well, this is going to be a tough one. If you're single and intend on staying that way, you can probably find one, but it's going to need a lot of work if the price you're willing to pay is 10K or less. If you find one be prepared to spend a considerable amount of time fixing it up. And make sure you buy a good bilge pump!
