I am not one of those people who sue's people all the time first of all.

A guy ran into the back of me in june 2003. He did serious damage to my car and I have a permanent disc herniation and nerve damage. I have incurred about $20,000 or more in doctor bills and this wreck has MAJORLY changed my life around. (This is the brief scheme of things.)

What I want to know is how much I could probably get out of this wreck settlement. Just a round about number. Will I get more that just covering my doctor bills?

Get an attorney who specializes in personal injury cases.

In most states you can sue for medical expenses, lost wages (past and future), and pain & suffering.

I've been on juries that were hearing personal injury cases and I would advise having a judge rule on your case (not a jury) if that is an option in your case. Going to a jury is like rolling the dice.

Depends on your state but it is never enough. If your injury is permanent and can be documented as such it will probably be 5 times medical or about 100,000. If you have an exceptioally good lawyer maby 6- 10 times medical if your lawyer has nothing to work with maybe 2 times medical. It's not really enough for a lifetime of pain or disability but that's how it is.

Let's see now it's 2007 and the guy hit you in 2003...you're just now realizing that you should have a settlement with the guy? Did you contact YOUR insurance company? if so than it's up to them to contact his (assuming he had any) and duke it out with them. You needn't do much more than that. If he didn't have insurance you should have contacted a Personal Injury Attorney immediately. GOOD LUCK!

It depends on how much he is worth. If he doesn't have any money or assets it would be difficult to get money out of him. A guy hit my car outside of Santa Barbara a few years ago and I reported him to the police. The police came out and said the guy had no money, no driver's liscence and no insurance and told me to be on my way and that the guy would be arrested. Good luck to you.

Talk to a personal injury lawyer. If s/he thinks you have a case, they'll pursue it. If not, they'll tell you not to waste your time (and theirs).
