was he just trying to get the ball back, or if he was angry, did he mean to hit the guy there?

NO..... He did not mean to stomp on the guy`s groin, he had two Portuguese on him he was trying to control the ball, if he had gone down when they were fouling him, like most of them (Portuguese) would have done, he would have got a free kick, PLUS what you have to ask yourself is how, if it was as bad as he made out, did he manage not only to finish the game, but also to be able to play both halves of extra time !!!!!!

The guy was on the ground as was the ball.. Rooney shouldnt have to worry about looking where he is going to step.. The Ref shouldnt have made a huge decision like that espicially when there is no way to be sure if he did it on purpose.. The benefit of the doubt should have been given and rooney should have either got nothing or a yellow card.

NO ! Look, Rooney is a real hothead. When he's annoyed/mad his face tells all. Look at the film, you will see there was NO agression on his face at the time he ACCIDENTALLY STEPPED on that player!BUT when he got annoyed with Ronaldo for putting in his two-penneth,you can see he was annoyed, and his face tells all.Rooney was the one being fouled by the Portugese,in the scuffle that ensued, he accidentally trod on the other guy,NOT STAMPED. Look at the film, see for yourself what I'm talking about!!! He wasn't even aware where he was treading! yes he pushed Ronaldo, but that did not warrant a red card!! The ref did NOT see what happened, he was encouraged by Ronaldo to send him off. OUT OF ORDER!!

Everyone knows how the British are. If they don't get what they want, they stomp on a mans groin.

I think he did but I'm not sure that he got in as good a shot as C. Ronaldo made it out to be. Then again, sort of glad there is no way I can relate to how that would feel......

He didn't mean it...Carvalho said to him he wanted a vasectomy...Rooney told him where he could get it cheap...Carvalho asked where...Rooney simply showed him.....

I think he really meant to do that on purpose.
