i don't use the term better, in a sense Jack is one of the greats, i play the guitar,damn good but not great, like Page , Clapton, Hendrix, Stevee ray, Jeff beck, robin trower, Hubert sumlin, and many more, as with actors i can't pick the best but i can name the greats.

Anthony Hopkins is a great actor. Just look at the Silence of the Lambs. Steve Buscemi is a great actor too, although he tends to always play the same kind of roles I honestly don't htink Jack Nicholson is that great of an actor, although I do love the Shining, and Christopher Walken is a good actor, but extremely creepy, especially in that fatboy slim video, that was just wrong.

If I say Tom Cruise is that abuse too. LOL!!! Al Pacino is the best. Take the Godfather, I forgot that was Al Pacino. I believed Michael Corleone. And Franky and Johnny I forgot all about Michael Corleone and only saw Johnny. Al takes you in and makes you believe his character. And they are all completely different characters by the way. Where Nicholson and Walken no matter the movie it still seems like the same character.

Tom Hanks. When he's in a movie you really believe he is that character and lose yourself in the character.

It's hard to overlook some of the greats like Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks, ........

Denzel Washington, he is very versatile and has stood the test of time. I also think Sam Jackson,Lawrence Fishburn Don Cheadel,Richard Roundtree-"Shaft"... Oh man these are all great actors, and just a few....I don't think that great actor are always given there due respect.

Can't argue with your choices, but I'd have to add Sean Penn to the list... and Phillip Seymore Hoffman is beginning to show signs of being a great actor and aspiring to the list also.

I have to say that Matt Damon is a great actor, but we'll see in about 25 years when he has the tenure of the two sterling actors you mentioned.
