No more than 800mg (4 tablets) every 6-8 hours, and not more than 4 times in 24 hours. Too much will wreck your liver.
Gargle with warm salt water too. It sounds gross, but it'll help your throat.

You aren't supposed to take 6 caplets per 24 hours, although a pharmacist told me you can take 12. The smallest dose should be used, and no more than 4 pills at a time, TRUST ME! One time I had SUCH a bad toothache and I took 6 at a time 3x in one day and I couldn't sleep because my stomach hurt so bad. ((I was mad at the dentist's receptionist for denying me pain medicine and not even asking the dentist)) Anyway, like I said the smallest dose should be used.

ibuprofen doesnt help much with sore throat. too much of any medicine, especially when not needed is bad for you.
try gargling with warm salt water, that is much better to ease the discomfort. and go to your doctor if it doesnt go down in 3 or 4 days even with the gargling. you might need antibiotics

I think you'll be okay but read the warnings on the bottle, it will say what limit not to exceed in a day/week... just make sure you eat with it, if you have an empty stomach when you take Ibuprofen it can hurt your stomach.

You should never take more than 4 tabs in a sitting. That comes to 800 mg. It can damage your liver if you take anymore than that. Only take this much every 6 hrs.
