How do I give a meld bid in Pinochle? For example, if I have aces around do I bid ten over the last bidder? Also, is it true that if you bid with an odd number that means you want the bid and even number if you don't, or vica versa?

Ok Maggie, I have been playing pino for about 3 years now on yahoo. The way i play and the way I was taught to play was that.
Aces around-if you are the open bidder then you need to bid 51, that tells your p that you have aces, but if you are the second bidder and you have only aces i would pass, but if i have about 12-14 meld with alot of aces then i will give him a 20 meld bid (up 2 from what the last bidder bid). I have never heard of the odd and even number thing and have never encountered anyone doing that. Another tip, when playing jack means back, meaning if throw say an ace out there and your p throws out a jack (in most cases) wants you to throw that same suit back to him cuz he is either out of that suit or he has the next trick in that suit. There are alot of rules and strategy's out there if you want to e-mail me any more questions about pino be my guest my address is jonsmom0220@yahoo.com
