Big Dig is the unofficial name of the Central Artery/Tunnel Project , a massive undertaking to reroute the Central Artery (Interstate 93), the chief controlled-access highway through the heart of Boston, Massachusetts, into a 3.5 mile (5.6km) tunnel under the city, replacing a previous elevated roadway. The project also included the construction of the Ted Williams Tunnel (extending Interstate 90 to Logan International Airport) and the Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge over the Charles River.
The Big Dig is the single MOST EXPENSIVE highway project in American history. Although the project was estimated at $2.5 billion in 1985, when the last major highway section opened in December 2003, over $14.6 billion had been spent in federal and state tax dollars as of 2006. Many delays, arrests, escalating costs, leaks, poor execution and use of substandard materials. The Massachusetts Attorney General is demanding contractors refund taxpayers $108 million for "shoddy work."
It's still under construction with no completion date in sight. In fact, huge slabs of concrete weighing at least 12 TONS fell from the ceiling of one of the Big Dig tunnels in Boston, crushing a woman to DEATH in a car yesterday night (July 10, 2006). Her male passenger was able to crawl to safety.

Boston huge 3, little doubt approximately it, only look at which considered one of them gained a Championship and you have your answer. Ray Allen replaced into nonetheless a nightly grasp performer, and Paul Pierce carried the gang (even in spite of the indisputable fact that he had some pussy moments interior the Finals I won't lie), and Kevin Garnett provided All famous individual protection, can no longer tournament up against that. Out of the huge 3 in Dallas the only one i think of it rather remains enjoying great basketball is Steve Nash with the Suns.

It was the "Big Dig" - a huge construction project that rerouted traffic from Route 1. Most of the road is now under the city, and includes a beautiful new suspension bridge. Can't wait to see it in person.

A money PIT that we have all paid for. It provides easy access to Logan airport and around the City of Boston. (when stuff doesn't fall on you) One of the worst federally funded projects ever!
