Sonie, have you read some of the comments on the board...racial slurs sent from both sides.

Damn straight. Too many French going against Italians and too many Italians going against French. How about you people just leave the feud between Zidane and Materazzi and move on. There is no need for others to get involved into their personal matter. Learn to mind your own business, pleaaaaseee!

This is hysterical. So as not to give the wrong impression - I am not French, not even remotely; however, the Italians did win but you don't know if the result can be changed or not because you are not a FIFA official nor can you read their minds as to what they will determine as a result of the investigation. I have no problem with the Italian fans being happy about their win nor am I rudely complacent about the French fans disappointment in their loss. I did not think that the Italians play was in the same class as the French but so be it. My problem is with two players - Zidane and Materazzi. It is not racist to discuss the individual acts of two people unless you in some way infer that their behavior is indicative of an entire group of behavior which I do not feel to be the case here although I will readily admit that there are others who have engaged in such barrages. Moreover, I disagree with those who would say that we would have heard little or nothing about Zidane's behavior if France had won. We would have just as you are hearing how the French feel about Matarazzi's behavior. I would also submit that the minute that these players became professionals and the world cup became a public event, it became anyone's right to comment on the games, event itself, and/or specific players.

haha many people are just steaming that France lost. You wouldn't have heard much about Zidane's ejection if France won.
