Get a paypal account number # 1,number 2 make sure you list your items correctly and accuratley even if it has defects in it.
Your feedback feflects what kind of seller you are.
Number 2 ..do not answer any emails if they are not sent by ebay, guard your passwords and accounts.
Do not answere any email from ebay if it is not on your "My Ebay page".
Ship out fast ..don't procrastinate, people pay money you owe them that much to get them their merchandise.
Order priority mail boxes from the post office they are free.
Do not overcharge on shipping or you will be banned from ebay.
Be accurate and honest in your feedback, and follow the rules and you should have no problem.
What kind of items are you selling ?
Take good pictures or get a scanner to scan small or flat items such as books or cd's..ebay has prefilled item descriptions which can help you on that if you don't have a scanner.
Research your items and sell low on auctions hoping to get a higher bid.
Ebay will pay off...believe me..i have been selling for over a year now..and almost have nothing left to sell anymore.
Ebay has paid my bills more than once and my computer is paid off thanks to ebay..
Also get a good printer ,paypal prints shipping labels and the delivery confirmation is free when you print the labels that will save you money.
Good items to sell are electronics..and home kitchen appliances they sell really good.
Also try selling your old school books they also sell very well .
List your items in the proper category to make sure they get looked at .
If your item is too big to ship, sell your item as a local pickup .
The first item i sold was glass top tables that were from an old girlfriend...it was nice seeing them go out the door with her memories.
have fun !

I am not a eBay powerseller, but I do sell on eBay. Lately have have been buying items at clearance prices from stores and selling them for a 100% profit. I have written and sold eBooks (write it once and sell it over and over again) too. Good items to sell are hot toys (like the new Disneys Cars movie toys), old and unused playing cards, computer parts, lamps, and things like that. When you ship your item, add a little surprise freebie; people love that. Also add your store flyer or make one up to promote yourself. Most sellers charge very high shipping fees, a lot of buyers do not like that. Make your shipping charges reasonable or free (or add it to the sale price). Offer garantees like a 30 day money back or something. Accepting paypal paypments will also give better advantages. Try selling your old everyday items first to build your feedback rating. Your old computer stuff and things like that. Hope this helps.

Best bets for new sellers:
1) Copy ads that are similar to the ones you wish to sell...
See what works and use the same tactics until you develop your own style...
2) Build up your feedback rating thru purchases... Potential buyers are leery of sellers with low feedback ratings... Until you establish yourself, don't expect much activity!
3) Make sure you get a PayPal account and allow people to pay you that way... This offers buyers a means to protect themselves in case of disputes.
4) Consider joining SquareTrade

this gives your accouint another mark of legitimacy
