Okay I used to masturbate and all and I started to quit because I thought it was a sin. I made a promise to God that I would stop. But then I found out that it can help prevent diseases. Can anyone give me some kind of source or quote from the Bible that states that Masturbation is not a sin and can help prevent diseases?

You won't find one. The Bible only gives direct mention to masturbation once in the Old Testament and it wasn't in the context of anything. It just states that it happened.
(In response to the answer below this one: Yes I am speaking of Onan and Rachel M you are right he did not masturbate in the literal sense. It was about preventing pregnancy. The only reason why I mentioned it is because so many use this scripture as a means to justify masturbation. Sorry for the confusion)

On the other hand, the Bible says over and over that any kind of sex outside of marriage is a violation of God's instructions.

I had to seek God out on this one and I hope you will to. I believe that masturbation is a sin because there is too much lust and immoral thinking that leads up to when I do it. I realized that the only reason why I would jackoff was when my mind was focused on the wrong things. It may not be the same for you.
(In response to the answer below this one: I have talked with other guys that claim to masturbate without having immoral thoughts. They say they only do it for the pleasure and I believe them. Just know that God does not approve of any sexual pleasure outside of marriage. And I would trust a guy’s judgment over a girl’s in this case.)

As far as the health issue goes, whether you jackoff or not its still going to come out. Its part of a guy’s natural cycle. That’s what wet dreams are all about.

I don’t know how wise it is to promise God that you aren’t going to sin. I have been fighting this battle for a long time and I still fail. It’s a hard habit to break. Don’t think about it. Or better yet don’t think about not thinking about it. The sooner we start thinking “don’t jackoff, don’t jackoff”, we fail. I think this is possibly why it isn’t mentioned in the Bible, we would be consumed by it if it was. Anyway sorry to preach at you. Don’t worry about it. God knows where your heart and mind are and what we all deal with everyday.

I found a good article that may help. Some of it may not apply to you but it has some good scripture.

I like 1 Thessalonians 4:2-4.

“For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable.”

do not hardship about it. Its easily very bodily healthful (see you later as you at the instantaneous are not doing something tremendous a procedures out). Its the same way sex is healthful. retains the hormones circulating and all that crap. once you're anxious about orgasming too quick, you would possibly want to replace the way you masturbate, no longer masturbation itself. Make a wide wide awake attempt to develop your orgasm, and practice the give up and bypass approach. such issues as that take practice and, regrettably, strength of will. have a good time with! Oh yeah! I purely about forgot. I suggested masturbation became bodily healthful. Mentally, it may reason issues, extremely in a courting, in case you at the instantaneous are not careful. operating example, if that's going to change into an habit or motives different habit (like pornography) then its having a detrimental result on your thoughts and at last on your sex existence. easily, the total existence for that celebrate, so be careful about stuff like that. ok, NOW have a good time with.

Itis true that regular masturbation can help flush out the prostate gland and reduce the chances of developing prostate cancer. However I doubt that you wil fidn anything in the Bible about masturbation being good for disease prevention. People didn't know much about the inside of the body or the nature of diseases in biblical times, so the people that wrote the gospels really can't be expected to have such foresight.

Why would you think masturbation is a sin? It's a normal, healthy way to get to know your body and release stress. Can you find anything in the bible that says, "Stop masturbating, son!"? No, and even if you did I don't believe it would be the word of God.

Seth, if you're talking about Onan, he wasn't masturbating. He pulled out during intercourse to try to prevent pregnancy.

I have read articles, and I agree, that you can masturbate just for the pure pleasure without having to have impure thoughts. You could try that.
