in and out, the only people I have known all my life are my family.

I have had one lifelong friend (been friends with her for 32 years now) and we are still friends. Everyone else has come and gone. I was with my ex husband for 20 very long years--half of my life--but then he decided to be an a**, lie/cheat/do drugs/abuse me, then wonders why I left him and moved on with my life.

This is how life goes. You may have one or two lifelong friends. The rest come and go, depending on what is needed at that point in your life, how much each of you grows, what happens in your lives, etc.

Had a 23 year old friendship that lasted through childhood and adult life until almost 2 years ago. Turned out to be 23 years of wasted time and love on my part as she finally showed her true colors in the end. This is someone I would have taken a bullet for at any given time. I am still struggling with the pain of what I now realize was a waste!

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
I personally have never had a lifelong friend or even half a lifelong friend.

I think friendship is so important and I cherish my friends who have seen me through my youth, relationships, breakups, let-downs, and memorable happy times. I love sitting down with them and reminiscing about my life and theirs. Ás I get older they remember those things that I had forgotten all about and it makes you laugh all over again or cry as the case maybe. I see how I've grown through their eyes. I still have a few life long friends and had those people who have just popped in and out of my life, all for a reason I am sure of that. It's life!

I do have, and this is kinda sad, one friend that I consider my best friend since we were 12, but we hardly ever see one another. People do tend to come and go, but, that's life.
