First of all, don't use baby oil, use plain olive oil or other cooking oil. But it isn't the cradle cap or the baby oil that is making baby go bald. A lot of babies are born with a bit of hair, lose most of it, then grow new (sometimes in a different color).
Rub a bit of oil into baby's scalp, wait a few minutes, then comb it out with a fine-toothed comb.

Stop washing babies hair. The number one cause of cradle cap is because the formula used in tear free baby shampoo is very hard to rinse out. I read this in one of the parenting mags. I have a 3 month old and he did not get cradle cap until I started washing his hair with soap. If a baby can't crawl they usually can just have there hair washed with warm water. Unfortunately oil works the best.

My daughter had cradle cap pretty bad also, The oil didn't work and actually made it worse! I used Gentle Naturals cradle cap treatment made by orjel and it was gone in 2 days. I purchased it at babies-r-us.its a greenish bottle with a purple label.
Good Luck

Use baby oil on the baby's scalp and rub gentle with a soft toothbrush. This will help. Do it daily for a few days and the cradle cap should be gone.

I doubt the baby is going bald because of cradle cap, most babies lose their hair so I wouldn't worry to much about that. If the cradle cap is actually yellow it could be dandruff, my dr suggested a little adult dandruff shampoo (it didn't work on my child) and avoid getting it into their eyes.

All that oil could be backfiring and clogging the folicles and poors, making it worse. Stop w/the oils for a cpl wks. Just take a soft bristled baby brush and brush in a circular motion. That'll help remove the looser stuff. Other than that, just deal w/it. It's very common and will go away on it's own if you stop aggravating it.

My daughter had it pretty bad. I used an over-the-counter baby wash. I can't remember the name of it, but it comes in like a blue-ish green bottle. It worked really well. I know Wal-Mart has it in the baby section, I've even seen in in grocery stores with the baby stuff. Baby oil didn't really work for her and it took several washings to get the oil out of her hair. Hope that helps!!

I used olive oil on my son's cradle cap. I would let it sit for a while to soften it up, then comb through his hair. Then I would wash it all out. It took a few times, but it cleared up and now is gone.
