Use to be. Now Americans are willing to give it up in exchange for revenge.

Our freedoms are the most important reason that we have a military. Your free wills must be under control. You just can't be willing to do what you want that is wrong, illegal, illicit, indecent or immoral, you must not harm people or you will pay the consequences. Personal Choices are issues that are debatable, as not everyone agrees on the same things. What is a right choice for one person or group may not be a good choice for another person or group. Give Peace A Chance.

those ideals are not just important this is our way of life. there has been wars fought for those fundamental rights. our ancestors fought and died for that way of life. I'm not talking about just a couple of armies going at it, I'm talking about America not having any army we had brave men women and children that believed so strongly in freedom to say what you want, believe in what ever god you want, and being liberated from oppression weree so important that they would gladly give the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield with little more than the clothes on their backs. there wer 14 year old boys standing on the front lines in the civil war protecting those freedoms, and the thing about that was they didn't have to be there they wanted to. so if you run into an American that doesn't feel that way, they simply aren't American at all. patriotism is hard to come by now days.

Doesn't this question look quite stale for Americans? In fact, Americans have already had these Freedoms since the day America came into being as a "Free-Nation". Americans are so spoilt by the so called Freedom and have abused and misused the whole concept of freedom so much so that they don't even realise what they are doing while walking naked on the streets and beaches freely and shamelessly. The demonstration of open-porn activities in the clubs, vulgar languages in the public places, husbands sleeping with another woman at workplace and women leaving husbands for wealthy tycoons and young adolescents indulging in early sexual relationships and drugs and Afro-Americans as always running for robbery and heinious crimes. They are as barbaric as dogs and don't take sexual taboos as seriously as it should be. Divorced moms talk freely about new boy friend in front of the kids and daughters sleep with step fathers. Hollywood celebrities' seasonal patch-up and break-up activities and the big time Gold digger-actresses' shameless ability to drink countless sexual affairs like water in one go. Holy cow! No morality and no respect for parents or elders or nearest kins etc are simply dirty and disgusting to the whole mankind. What the hell on earth is going on out there? I think they all have gone "ANIMALISM" - like animals without sense and shame.Their whole society is going to the gutter for sure including Horny Clinton and Egocentric Bush, who is desperate for Bin Laden's rear end. Yo, Just leave him alone!!

Yes, free will, personal choice and freedom are important to all Americans as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else or break the law. Of course as a Christian, I would add ,if it doesn't go against Gods word.

Yes, free will, personal choice, and freedom are important to Americans. But, not more important than all else. They are valuable, but their value does not override all other concepts.
Unfortunately, the things you listed are usually understood to be "individual" focused, rather than "community" focused. And when the individual is the focus it usually lead to self-serving actions.
So, like most of life, these concepts must be balanced with/against many other things.

They *are* generally considered valuable, but it's impossible for one person to answer on behalf of every American.

Then again, with the way we're letting our rights fly out the window nowadays, you'd think people don't give a two sh*ts about our freedom.

Based on things I see in the media, it would certainly appear that they aren't important to a lot of Americans. For some people, a feeling of security and avoidance of any responsibility appear to be what they value most. There is the concept that valuing freedom and personal choice are core values of US citizens, but the evidence implies that a lot of people define these things in narrow ways that only apply to their situation without a consideration of others. Other people don't even think, but simply follow what some mouthpiece they trust tells them. It's a situation that appears to be increasingly widespread, but that may only be because of how easy it for some people to gain attention these days.

I think they are not as impotant as we like to think they are. Most Americans talk about freedom, although in many ways we do not experience it and in many many cases we refuse to give it. I heard the question recently " Do you love freedom enough to extend it to other people?" My feeling is that most Americans want freedom to act and believe and say what they want, but do not want to let others do the same, here or abroad.

I don't think they are important as they are being interpreted in our time.

This is more of a question of constitutionality than importance. If they were important to all Americans, then more Americans would be standing up for their right to not be bombarded with left-wing liberalism and democratic immorality.

America is a place that was built on the principal of people trying to escape from religious persicusion. I think that all the values you listed are very immportant and I hope that the government realizes that there is alittle saying in the constitution talking about seperation of church and state, and perhaps they should follow it!
