Geronimo jumped on horseback from Medicine Bluff in the Witchita Mountains . (Fort Sill, OK) As he jumped he Yelled Geronimo. That is why US paratroopers yell his name. He should have been killed but was unhurt and escaped the soldiers. None of the followed him over the bluff. It is for good luck.
