when your child is ready, usually when he/she is tired of having a wet diaper and want to use the toilet like a big boy or girl. 2 in a half to 3

I know there are children who take a little longer to get the concept down, and there are some who catch on extremely early in comparison. There is no set age, but I would say by age 3 or 4 you want the child to be a little more clear on the concept. If you think there may be a problem, take your child to a local peditrician and see what they say.

At two and a half they are really just starting. I think if she's not trained by the time she's 3 1/2 or 4 her parents probably should talk to the doctor.

i think it varies from child to child. i do not think it's fair to say all children should be potty trained by this age or that age....i used to think so but after i had my son i changed my mind. my husband is gone for long periods of time for his job, he is deployed now and has been for a long time. there are many, many, many factors i had to take into consideration in potty training my boy. i can see how he has changed through this somewhat unstable lifestyle and i am his sole caretaker and i have another child to care for......there's a lot for he and i to deal with already......potty training is going to be the last thing i push on him while he is trying to cope with so many other changes. he is 3 1/2 and i don't care if he takes another year.......his mental health is more important to me than saving on pullups. he is half way potty trained but i am taking it slow, letting him lead the way with it b/c i can see he needs that from me.

Every child is different. Some children learn by different methods than others.

As a rule, girls are potty trained earlier than boys.

Again, as a rule, girls are usually potty trained by 18 - 24 months with boys usually by 24 - 30 months..

I would say they should be trained by age 3 (daytime) nighttime takes a little longer sometimes. Don't rush it.
