I worked in Nigeria for roughly 7 years, in both the north and south of the country,
I was always treated with respect and courtesy, the nation as a whole how ever, is very corrupt from the top down, virtually every service that you are entitled to for free, you have to pay for in the form of dash, or put another way, cash in hand, If you can find an official, at his desk, from thursday on, it's an event, as they are, "not on seat" Having gone away for the weekend, I found the Hausa people from the north, to be quite dignified, and fairly honest, but there are many tribes, that you do not come in contact with, so one can't form an opinion on them; Lagos used to be the capital when I was there, and like other cities everybody it seems trying to make a buck, and boy nigerians are past masters at that! honestly or otherwise, but at least you know that you are going to be ripped off! and they can be charming while they are doing it!

I have a nigerian friend that I love very dearly. She a beautiful person both inside and out so I can't really generalize but I Know that alot of Nigerians are "scams". I think they are the biggest "scammers" in the world. Dateline NBC just did a documentary on them. They live the "big life" and has nothing to prove how they got there. I could give you a story of a guy I met, he was trying to convince my friend who works at a nursing home to give him the residents social security number so he could file income taxes for them. So there you go.

As an Egyptian (an African country), I live Nigeria and Nigerians but I hate the news about extreme corruption there and about the tough military regime. And of course I love Nigerian football, especially Okocha and Kanu.

My parents were in Lagos with Williams Bros Co.a long time ago . It was a time of internal strife, the Ebos (I hope I spelled it correctly) were being treated so very badly, mutilations death . It was a very bad time to be in Nigeria.I have beautiful hand made art objects and a hand carved queens stool that are in my living room that my folks shipped back. My parents have 100s of pictures ,it looks very beautiful. I'm sure now its more peaceful than when they were there.

Because of all the fraud and scams that come out of that country, it doesn't have a good reputation. I have been there twice now, and my wife and I adopted a son from there, so it can't be all bad. There are some great people there, but overall, it's a very desparate place.

Some says that they are the most dangerous people in the world.
But to me they are also just humans as all the others.
Your skin may be black, body size may differ. But if you take a blood sample will there be a different in you and the others.
When you die if you see the skeleton can you identify any difference?
WE ALL ARE HUMANS!!!!!!!
