Yes, go to physical therapy! Your physical therapist will determine your physical limitations (range of motion, joint mobility, flexibility, strength, gait abnormalities) and help you to overcome these impairments. He/she will teach you exercises to perform at home as well as treat you in the clinic with modalities to help inflammation, pain and swelling.

"it is worse to sprain an ankle than to break it"
forgot who said it, but these are the exact words at the beginning of the chapter on ankle injuries.

my protocol-
2 weeks splinting (plaster) and elevation.
then phsio and elastic bandage for the next one month.

there is a story in watson- jones textbook of fractures about a man who neglected his sprain- you really should read it !
(dont worry- very old text-last reprint 1984- no medical terms)

feel free to ask any thing

Well didn't your doctor tell you that a sprain is worse than a break? You hyper extended your tissues and they take twice as long to recover. Try walking less on it or use a support such as a cane or crutch.
