The pain shouldn't take too long - You will find that both of his bottom front teeth will come through then the top will follow, approx one month later. Then it will be a case of wait and see.

My lad is 10 months old now and was a bit grumpy with his top teeth coming through, the bottom (first ones) were no probs at all.

Another thing to watch out for is sleepless nights, and whilst I didn't want to use medication I did use Calpol a couple of times to get us through the night, and let my little man get a good nights sleep.

You will also experience major explosions in the nappy area. Again this won't last long, but bear it in mind.

Finally, to help ease the pain, without medication, give your lad half of a carrot to chew on. Nice and cool and no problems if he chews little bits off. As he gets older and other teeth start coming through you will find him chewing on other implements. My lad was happily chewing on the handle of my wooden spoons today.

Oh what fun.

It varies from child to child. My first would cry incessantly for hours and be done with it. My second would cry on and off for a couple of days. My third would have a grumpy day and not really cry at all. My fourth cries for some teeth and is just grumpy for others.

You can give your child some Infant Tylenol or Infant Motrin to help ease his discomfort. Some mothers use Baby Orajel on the gums, but my kids all hated that.

Otherwise, just comfort him and tell him that once the tooth comes in it won't hurt anymore. He may not understand exactly what you are saying, but that you are explaining it seems to comfort some children and put them more at ease. Try to get his attention on other things, maybe by taking extra time to play with him.

Giving him a teether can help, as well. All of my kiddos save for one used a teether. One of my kiddos liked the ones filled with sterilized water that you can put in the fridge to make it cool. The one that didn't like a teether at all preferred chewing on a receiving blanket.

get some baby orajel... the pain will last until the tooth pops through... some kids take longer than others for the tooth to break the skin completely

the first one is always the worst, my daughter is six months and has 3 teeth with the fourth coming in in a day or two. she only really fussed with the first. the last two and this one havent been bad, she didnt even run a fever. all you can do is try to make him more confortable, give him baby tylenol and ibuprophen in turns, that way less stress on his liver, and mine loves wet wash clothes ive put in the freezer. also, my supermarket has this new thing that she likes in the nipples and bottles section, it looks like a binky, only the nipple part is a mesh baggie. its for safely feeding fresh fruits. i put frozen banannas in it and let her get all messy. good luck!

Until he has left home and has a family of his own.

The problem is, sometimes a tooth will appear, then disappear, pop some bonjela and give hime 2.5mls of calpol when screaming is loudest. Lots of cuddles and love will get him through it.

Not long, and I always found 'Bonjela' very good for teething pains - my babies loved it, and if they woke up crying with teething pain would go straight back to sleep when I put some on their sore gums.

for you. 21 years.

For him once it comes through the pain should stop. You have to ride it out. Seething rings (provided they are safe) can give some relief. We used to use them frozen.
