I bought a Kawasaki zx6r and have been riding this weekend without gloves. However, after riding for a while my palms hurt like hell. Are there any gloves that provide padding on the palms or am i just being a wuss?

Gloves are essential bike tools, and can save your hands if you go down, so no, you are not being a "wuss."
Virtually every manufacturer makes a fairly decent glove, but there are so many styles: gauntlet, shortie, fingerless, mesh, all leather, all textile, plastic, a mixture of any of the foregoing ... it really depends on what you want to wear. Visit your local bike store and try on a few pairs. Do NOT buy on-line unless you are real sure exactly what you want.
I have a pair of winder gauntlets that are just great, made by Alpine Star ... they have pads, and knuckle reinforcements, and velcro closures. I also have a pair of fingerless gloves with palm pads that I got at the flea market for $4 ... just because I will not ride without gloves.
Joe Rocket makes some excellent sport-bike gloves in a wide variety of styles and colors to match your leathers.
Go to the store, try them on. Wear them!
You'll be amazed at the difference they make in your riding experience.

That's one of the drawbacks of a sport bike -- that leaned over postion is rough on the hands because there is so much pressure. Try a good pair of gloves with gel palms. Olympic is a brand that comes to mind. I got them at my local Honda dealer.

depends on what you want. Gauntlet style or generic. Long freeway rides where safety is most important I go with a gauntlet style joe rocket blaster. REally nice fit breaths well, the tips are a bti getting used to but once yoru over it your good. I've also liked the olympia gloves.
