Its all good. Bad credit just means a higher deposit when you sign your lease. Look for apartment complexes that have specials with low deposits, no application fees, or move in during the end of the month for the pro rated rent where its only half the month you pay for. If you still have problems, locally find a home that is owned by a private owner. Usually they do not ask for credit checks and worried mostly if you have the money and if you look like a good resident to live there. Best thing is to try local newspapers in the classified section and call the ones that's interesting. Dont be afraid to ask if they run credit checks or just straight up tell them that your credit "isn't so good." They may work with you. Ask friends also, someone may know another person with a home for rent or good places to try. Take it easy and happy early home warming. Good luck!

I wouldn't come right out and tell your landlord that......they may think you will stiff them for the rent.

If you get the place you are after.....be responsible and start fixing your credit right away. It will save you a world of headache in the future, especially when you want to do more than rent an apartment.

Get into a place with someone looking for roommates. Stay there and work on improving your credit, then look for a place of your own.
