I am trying to decide between buying Sims 2 and Sims 1, and the sims 1 package comes with ALL the sim 1 expansions included. Is there really that much difference between the two that merits going the Sim 2 route? Or is the Sim 1 game pretty much the same as 2?

the sims 2 have more variety of objects to choose from, and better graphics. they also added facial expressions to the sims, and have more options, like different neighborhoods to choose from, and etc..

Same concept, New Features, tons of graphics. Sims 2 is like 5 cds or something there is so much stuff in the game. You can also go to town and university and all sorts of stuff. As far as the 2 go I'd get Sims 2. There is also 3 or 4 expansions for Sims 2 as well.

The Sims 2 University
The Sims 2 Nightlife
The Sims 2 Open For Business
The Sims 2 Family Fun Stuff Pack

Why the Sims 2 kicks the Sims 1 's butt:

The Sims 2 is so much more fun to play.

You can move the angle of the camera around to get different views

You can take snapshots and create stories with the pictures

You can take video of the gameplay and create movies (and there are some really good ones out there surprisingly)

Your sim has an aspiration....a goal in life

Your sim ages...therefore you can give birth to a baby then watch it go from infant to toddler to child to teen to (young adult if you have university) to adult to elder...then they die

There are many more options during gameplay

The sims 2 will eventually have everything the sims 1 has, for example the "pet" expansion pack for sims 2 will be coming out soon.

There are no more new expansions for sims 1

ON THE OTHER HAND

The sims 2 is really expensive, especially with the expansion packs. So if you have never played sims 2, you would be okay with sims 1....mostly because you'll never know what you are missing.

All though the Sims 1 is a lot more cheaper, the Sims 2 would have to be better value. no more robot movements, they are all fluent movements, people can age and eventually die making the game more challenging and exciting, going to university, downtown, opening a shop and making realistic people and houses are only a few things that make the Sims 2 so awesome. but if you really want to save money the Sims one isn't that bad a choice, with things like pets, magic, fame, dates, holidays etc. but the Sims 2 are getting a pets expansion. it depends what you want really quality and you choose the Sims 2 or money saving and you choose the Sims 1

The Sims 2 has better graphics but can take a while to load when playing the game. I have both and now normally only play Sims 2, but i do miss having animals with the Sims unleashed expansion pack for Sims1.

Sims 1 you can't change much of anything about the sims, in the sims2 you can make them look exactly the way you want them to look. They have turn ons/turn offs, specific likes and dislikes. The women can get pregnant and really look pregnant (although the birthing process is a bit far fetched). The sims age from infant through elderly and then can die. Sims 2 sims can drive. Sims 2 also uses a 7 day week and your sims can have days off during the week. Sims 2 is a very interesting game.... and you can screw their little lives up just to see what happens.... i personally make my former boss (jerk) and put him on a lot and kill him in all sorts of ways.... got a nice little graveyard now.... rofl

well sims 1 is easier and simpler because it doesn't have as many different actions as sims 2. the sims 2 is harder because there is a whole bunch of new things like you have to try to achive aspirations for your sims. also sims 2 your sims actually age which is pretty cool because then you can start as a child then grow up to a teenager and adult and marry someone then have kids and so on. I think the sims 2 is better because there are more things to do like raising your sim's sims and creating a family that will be there for like generations.

In Sims 2 sims get old and die while in Sims 1 they don't.
Sims 2 has better graphics...
...sims (people) have their wants and fears, they have aspirations...
...and you can do more things than you can do in Sims 1...
In the expansion of Sims 2, they can go to college and have cars... and many more...

So you should buy Sims 2!!!

Sims 2 is a lot better. The graphics are amazing, you have the ability to zoom in really close to sims, which you can't do in Sims1. You can modify every element of your sim's face instead of being forced to use the pre-made ones that come with the sims1. You can also grow the sims up from baby-toddler-child-teen-young adult-adult-elder-dead. In the first, you are stuck with what you have. Sims also cannot move out of their house very easily. Your houses are also stuck in the lot you start with. Plus there are a bunch more reasons I can't even name here.

Don't get me wrong, the sims 1 is great, especially if you get all the expansion packs, but its very limited in its use.

Sims two is much improved over one. I've not played in years but I've talked with others. Sims two the characters age, the children grow up. They are selling Sims one with all the expansions included it's an inferior product. In Sims two there are improved interactions, and more character diversity. My suggestion go with Sims two you'll end up wanting to upgrade, skip Sims one. There are improved graphics so you'll need at least Pentium four with Sims two. There's a great money cheat program you can download for free called Artmoney V. 6.25. I've used it for Sim City Four it's the best and you can use it for all your offline gaming. There is a free version and a commercial version for twenty dollars. The Simulation games are time consuming and I sometimes need a break from the money grind in them.

you can customize your characters better in the sims 2. there is also genetics, aging. its just more in depth. i enjoy it a lot more than the sims 1. its fun to see how the kids will turn out. but man, my first family had the ugliest children. but second family had cute kids lol.

oh and also you have a lot more building options. you can make the houses you always wanted to make in the sims 1 but couldnt.
