If you give a person a fish you feed them for a day. If you teach them how to fish you feed them for life.

or is it more like;

If you give a person a fish and never teach them how to fish, then your job is secured and they wont come in behind you.

I think that if you give a person a fish you feed them for a day, and if you teach them to fish you feed them for life. I think we should all be teachers.

I would not mind feeding a person for a day but i think it would be better for the other person if i teached him/her how to fish for themselves so that they can be independant and teach others, and those other teach others and so on:)

the first statement is true. it is much similar to the two theories of service. either indirect action or direct action. direct action is just giving the fish and indiret action is teaching them how to fish and changing social stuctures for life

Apply a "tax to all fishermen concept" and you just described how the democrats get and stay in political office.

The republicans are the same. They still demand a tax, but they give it to other fishermen and churches -or- use it to make war instead.

Brilliant!

Both are true. In my case i prefer the first one, i dont have any problem about teaching others what to do and how to do it.

Maybe you should read Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching again, you are completely missing the point (but if you didn't it wouldn't be the Tao would it?)
