I think it's doubtful that both houses will turn in '06. However, the House is within reach. My guess is no. Reps will hold an advantage in the Senate of 52 - 47 - 1 (so 4 since the Independent will vote with Democrats). And in the House their margin will drop to about 6. It will make a big differenence in the Senate, because the New England Republicans occasionally vote with the Dems (espeically on cultural issues).
As far as '08 goes, you can't really tell until each party nominates. If the Republicans successfully separate themselves from the Bush/Cheney/Rove cabal and nominate a relative moderate (McCain or Giuliani) then they might retain the White House. If they nominate someone from the Bush camp, I think Carrot Top would likely win if he ran.
_________
I love how a few are yelling about Dems being "blind", when only 22% of American think we're on the right track, the President's approval is in the mid-30's and Congress' is lower. And in "generic election" polls, Dems outdo Reps by an average of 13%.
Considering the answer I gave above, who's blind?

Hell no they don't have a chance. Lieberman is on the brink of leaving the party. The only thing that's left are nuts like Dean.
Just because Bush approval ratings are low doesn't mean that the American people are for these damned liberals loons.
I think democrats believe they can put a turd on a rope and Americans will buy it. That's all they've been giving us for 8 years. Griping and no alternative solutions other than, "Bush is wrong!"

Definitely. I think the majority of the country is fed up with Republican greed, closemindedness and poor judgment over the last few years.
I haven't been a Republican for a while (yes, I was one at one point!) but I was never vehemently against the Republican party until Bush, Jr. I just think it's sad that our administration refuses to listen to the majority of our country when it comes to this war and the poor decisions that have been made.
P.S. I know not everyone in the country is a Democrat but the MAJORITY of them are unhappy with Bush's job. Remember the 29% approval rating a couple months ago? Let me translate: that means 71% of the country is unhappy with Bush's performance. That qualifies as a majority.

I believe that America is not happy in with direction our country is going in and if there are fare elections the house or senate will be balanced once again. If this does not take place in November I will be convinced that America has been taken over by a criminal syndicate organization posing as Republicans.

it sounds like you have already made up your mind regarding this question and don't want a real answer to your question.....
what we need in this country is balance of power....our system provides it.... that way our country doesn't lean too far left or too far right.... our forefather knew the importance of this!!!!!
it sounds like you are happy with the job that the current administration, the house, and the senate are doing???
so let me ask you...... don't you think this country would benefit from a balance of power.... instead of having an administration go unchallenged in everything that it does???? because if you do...... then you living in a country that is not truly freed, democratic, and great!!!!

Perhaps not taking it back in '06, but making good in-roads, owing to GOP dissatisfaction.
Depending upon who the candidates are, there's a pretty good chance the country could swing back to Democratic control.

Senate or House - probably not. The incumbency rate is extremely high because of redefining districts and such.
White House - sure! I think there is a def. possibility.

Dems also believe in the tooth fairy. They are blinded by Bush hatred and cannot see straight at the moment. Dems believe its in the bag, and I can hear them screaming foul already, just like the last two presidential elections. I always chuckle at the poor loser fits they throw.
