I'll help your friends project by giving you a bunch of webpages to look at, but i'm not going to write her paper for her so she can cut and paste these answers. She should just google the term "fifties music" or "sixties music" and you'll get so many references to check it'll keep you busy for a week.

The 4 Seasons - from New York - group consisted of Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi (replaced by Joe Long in 1965). They first hit with "Sherry" in 1961, followed by "Big Girls Don't Cry" and numerous others: "Dawn" "Rag Doll" "Let's Hang On" "Ronnie" and many others throughout the 1960's. Originally recorded for Gone Records, then went to Vee Jay where they had their first hit, moved on to Phillips Records, then Motown for one album before the original group broke up and Valli formed a new 4 Seasons group which wasn't nearly as good as the original.
