4x + 7y =32
4X + 7Y - 7Y = 32 - 7Y. This simplifies to 4X + 2Y = 32 - 7Y.
I don'yt see how this simplifies that is where did the +2y come from?

Whoever said the 2y belongs there was wrong.

4x+7y(-4x)=32(-4x)
7y=32-4x or 7y=-4x+32
y=(-4x+32)/7

Yes, it would seem that you copied it down wrong. The 2Y does not belong there.

As for the person who says that x=1 and y=4,
why wouldn't it be x=8 and y=0
or x=8 and y = 0
or x = 5 and y =12/7
or...?

The possibilities are endless.
