Peyton Manning is an outstanding quarterback with a genuis football mind and stong leadership skills. His combination of arm-strength and precision with his passing is pretty much unmatched in the league, period. Peyton, however, has some weaknesses in his game. He has a lack of mobility and ability to fire accurately under intense pressure. He also has a hyper compeitive personality which has shown to overheat in high pressure situations thus far. That being said he could still easily be the best QB in the league, but seems to have a bit of bad luck in the big game. If you can attack the Colt's pass protection significantly you can neutralize his effectiveness. However, if the other team's defense is not on top of their game, the Colts are never out of it. All that being said, Petyon is deserving of the praise he gets. You will not see too many better pure passers in your lifetime.

Peyton Manning is overrated so far he's never made it to the super bowl despite having all that talent. He seems to freeze up in the play offs how can he even be considered so great with no super bowl appearances. He's just another player unable to reach the highest level he had what 8 years or so... He's overrated and over paid. All those fans screaming and players coming after him is all part of the game so far he's not so distressed he is willing to walk away from the game millions of dollars make things bearable

First of all, if he is 'overrated,' this is not even remotely his fault. Does he rate himself?
Secondly, I want these people who think Peyton Manning is 'overrated' to get under center surrounded by thousands of screaming fans, read a hungry/fast/ferocious defense, make an audible, get the snap, make a split-second decision, and throw a spiral 40-50 yds, hitting a receiver in stride with 3 enormous men wanting to take your head off in your face. Do that, and I'll give a second thought to your football 'knowledge.'

Peyton is a great passwer without question. Yes, he holds all those records, but that is only part of what makes a QB a QB. Look at the ones that most people consider "great" Montana, Unitas, Elway, Marino even Young and Favre. Except for Marino, they ALL won.
I believe Manning, assuming he doesn't win a SuperBowl, will always be considered an excellent passer (numbers wise he'll be in the Hall of Fame) but in terms of a great QB (numbers plus championships plus leadership qualities) I think he'll fall a bit short of some of the names listed above. You'd never see he pull Montana's late drive in the SuperBowl or Elway's dive to get the first down. He's just missing that "it" factor for me. Great passer, not a great QB.

Not overrated.
Unless you've played QB, you'll never understand how much goes into that position and how much more he does than most others. Everything starts with the QB. Some manage the game, some just hand it off, others control the fate of the offense with their arms and ability to change plays(mentally and/or with legs).
The QB is the extention of the coach and the leader in more ways than just holding a team together. And unless you've never been in the fire you'll never totally get it.
But I'll give you this, every QB knows he is only as good as the line that protects him, the RB he hands off to, aand the WR that catch anything he throws their way. Without the faith of his cast, the offense goes nowhere

His statistics prove NOTHING to me. Look at the team. Look at his wide recievers, add that he had James as a running back. Come on anyone with the smallest amount of skill could do great. Anyone who could earn a starting job in the NFL should have been able to put up those numbers. He is OVERRATED.

Peyton Manning is not overrated, but he's monumentally terrible in the clutch. And that's not something you learn. He just doesn't have it and never will. He'll need to be carried to a championship.

It's a lot more than that. Check his touchdown totals. Most ever.
Check his completion percentage. Check his team record in the last 3 years. He's the best in a long time, the stats prove it. Had he won the superbowl you would be thinking completely different.
