garage door opener suddently quit lite lites opener refuses to open door

1. The reset switch needs to be activated.
2. The chain or screw mechanism is jammed. You would hear the motor trying to run.
3. The contacts for the door safety switch are dirty or out of alignment.
Just check it over real close and see if you see anything amiss. Find the reset button and reset it.

check the battery in the remote, see if it will actuate with wired remote ( like found at your door ) do you hear motor turning ? try to unplug unit from ceiling outlet and plug back in. In the meantime, you can pull the RED cord to release the catch, and lower and raise manually. If you hear the motor turning, the chain may have broken or jumped off the sprocket. kind of like a bike chain.
